Ultramarine is the first novel by English writer Malcolm Lowry. Published inthe novel follows a young man aboard a steamer in the early 20th century and his struggle to gain acceptance from his crew mates.
Lowry tinkered with the novel until his death, adapting it also to make it fit with his second novel, Under the Volcano (). Plot. Graham McNeil's first full-length novel, Nightbringer, is an excellent book.

Ive had trouble finding much Audio Book wise for Ultramarines. Ive thoroughly enjoyed what Ive read of them in the Horus Heresy Series. Ultramarine is a deep blue color pigment which was originally made by grinding lapis lazuli into a powder.

I agree, Ultramarines are probably your best bet for a straightforward Space Marine book. They are well written and often feature actions on at least a Company scale. I find that too often space Marine books tend to feature a small strike team on an important mission.
